Ouachita Parish Public Library to Host Two Performances of Pinocchio June 26th

    Monroe, La.-
The Ouachita Parish Public Library will host the Hampstead Stage Company?s performances of Pinocchio on Monday, June 26, 2017.  The first performance will be at the Ouachita Valley Branch at 601 McMillan Road in West Monroe at 10:30 am, followed by a 2 pm performance at the Main Branch at 1800 Stubbs Avenue in Monroe.  Both performances are free and open to all ages, but the show is best suited for ages five and up.

Pinocchio is the tale of an Italian woodcarver, Geppetto, who carves a son out of a block of wood.  The little marionette longs to become a real boy, and takes the audience along on his journey.  Along the way, Pinocchio discovers that to be human is to be good-hearted and brave.

The Hampstead Stage Company is a non-profit national professional touring theatre company based in Center Barnstead, New Hampshire.  Every year, the company performs over 2,000 shows across the nation.  Audience members are invited to participate with the two main professional actors who each play multiple roles in the production.  ?We are thrilled to have the Hampstead Stage Company present this classic tale to our patrons,? said Robin Toms, library director.  ?We encourage area families to take advantage of these opportunities to experience the kind of high-quality production they have toured for the last 31 years.?

Pinocchio is part of the Ouachita Parish Public Library?s Summer Reading Challenge.  Anyone can register, read, participate, log their events and earn prizes either on-line on at their local branch through August 5, 2017.  An activity guide listing all summer reading events and activities are available at every branch of the Ouachita Parish Public Library.
